Orland Township Assessor Rich E. Kelly sincerely writes:
“After 26 years of working for Orland Township, Mary Ellen Colletti Chief Deputy Assessor has decided to retire. I had the privilege of working with Mary Ellen for 19 years (maybe that’s why she is retiring).
Being Chief Deputy Assessor can be difficult in normal times but especially during the pandemic when a lot of adjustments had to be made. Mary Ellen made the adjustments and gave top-notch service to Orland Township Residents who needed help.
Often times when people come to the Assessor’s Office for assistance, they are not happy. Mary Ellen’s goal was to listen, understand, then help them with their concerns. I have received many letters from taxpayers complimenting her ability to solve their problems. Mary Ellen has a kind heart and is always concerned about fellow workers and trying to help whenever possible.
Working together for 19 years I realized how much knowledge Mary Ellen has accumulated in her memory and somewhere in her desk and file cabinet (yes Mary Ellen, you will be getting calls from the office).
After finishing talking about business, we always had time to talk about family. We have shared many good times and some sad times.
Now it is time for Mary Ellen to retire with her husband Jerry, hey maybe Jerry can teach her how to play golf, no bad idea. We will all miss you!”
Mary Ellen’s dedication to helping the community of Orland Township is truly remarkable. Her ability to reach out and assist all members of the community in need of help is a testament to the Township's commitment to its residents. Through her work, Mary Ellen has shown just how close and meaningful Township government can be to those it serves.
Assessor Rich E. Kelly, Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady, the Board of Trustees, and Township staff and volunteers congratulate Mary Ellen on her retirement.
